Thank you! My favourite too. The swan docked herself next to my face and decided I needed some feathering, so she began preening. I was sputtering in a cloud of white feathers as I took the shot. I guess this was amusing for the fine feathered fowl. Meanwhile, as the refined and elegant bird happily nested on my face, she would pause now and then to hiss and crane her neck menacingly (in the bird’s mind) at another human whenever the human attempted to approach. I wasn’t even the one with the lettuce treats! Yet it’s always ME the birds decide to flock all over…blast… 😉 Cheers!

Beautiful .. The last pic is my fav too!
Yes. I had just learned that day that a friend of mine had died a month ago. I was in grief, lying there in the grass with the camera, just watching the swan, and suddenly she came up on land and decided it would be fun to fling feathers in my face. It was glorious. As I took that photo of her lizard-like leg, I was thinking of my friend, as she loved to shoot the feet of water-fowl as an on-going series. The swan would have stayed with me all afternoon, I think, had I not been obliged to depart. I shall have to return for a full afternoon with her, on my own, sometime soon. Anyhow, thank you for the kind comment. I am so delighted it was enjoyed. Jubilant cheers,

This is accurate and true for many people, including me.
Certainly true, for me, as well. And when I manage to scrape through the layers of cinder, of a sometimes bleak existence, I realize my eyes are still fresh through the splinters and grit. Every minute detail is still salient and sharp, and I find myself still awed by the way the rustic, afternoon light strikes a nail or a pane of grungy glass, or the way a sudden breeze lunges from a grey sky and ruffles a chickadee’s breast and tangos in a sleeping blanket of decayed leaves, the gutter suddenly rattling alive with music. Finding intense beauty in that moment, I trust that I am still enchanted by the world.
